Unbelief Is Irrational

Mark 11:22: And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

2 Corinthians 5:7: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

We mortal men would prefer to believe in things we can see rather than the unseen God. But Jesus created us. Men did not. He created a universe and a world for us to live in. Men did not. He makes the sun come up every morning. Men do not. He gave us physical life. Men did not. He supplies the air we breathe and the food we eat. Men did not. He sustains us. The earth does not. Jesus died for our sins. Men did not. He is preparing a place in Heaven for us. Men are not. He will take believers there one day. Men cannot. He saves us. Men cannot. He knows everything. Men do not. He has all power. Men do not. He knows the future perfectly. Men do not. God is infinite. Men are not. He can give us wisdom that men cannot. He can wash away our sins. Men cannot. He can give us eternal life. Men cannot. He can make us new creatures. Men cannot. Faith in anything or anyone other than God is beyond irrational. And yet, men believe in themselves, others, governments, churches, wealth, you name it.

Romans 1:22: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:9: But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man*s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

When men are irrational about God, they become increasingly irrational about multitudes of other things. Irrationality permeates their opinions and lives. They call evil good and good evil.

Isaiah 5:20: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Beyond their irrationality, they are cursed.

Jeremiah 17:5: Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. 7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

They are upside down and backwards.

Acts 17:6: And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

They oppose themselves and they are captives of the Devil and his lies and irrationality.

2 Timothy 2:24: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Individuals without faith in God are to be pitied. We were all there. Are you still there?
